Vetern trade unionists Bala Tampoe passed away

Veteran trade unionists and General Secretary of Ceylon Mercantile, Industrial and General Workers Union Bala Tampoe has passed away at the age of 92, our news sources said. Born on May 23, 1922 to a prominent family in Jaffna , he was educated at the prestigious Royal College Colombo and gained a BSc degree from the newly established University of Ceylon in 1943 and the University of London in 1944. Later he studied law at the Law College and became an advocate, practicing criminal law. Add new comment
