Indian Navy investigating SL Navy activities

The Indian Intelligence unit is in the process of investigating the Sri Lankan navy personnel’s activities, as they are in the practice of intruding to Danushkodi, Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu, during afternoon hours by boats.

Sri Lankan fishermen, who are in the habit of fishing between the sea area of Thanushkodi and Sri Lanka’s Talaimannar, are in the habit of to reaching Thanushkodi and purchasing Indian goods which they require from the shops located in the area. Such incidents had been complained by the Tamil Nadu fishermen.

The intelligence unit too did not take this as a vital issue, as the Sri Lankan fishermen did not create any problems. But as these activities have now increased, it has alarmed the Indian fishermen. From recent times it has become a practice that the Sri Lankan navy is visiting Thanuskodi on Gas boats which are used for patrolling and are engaged in purchasing items like biscuits cigarettes, bête and soft drinks from the small shops located along the sea beach area by paying Indian money.

Initially the Indian fishermen did not take much attention towards the entry of Sri Lankan Navy to Danuskodi, but due to the activities getting increased, complaints had been made to the relevant authorities. Hence the Central Provincial Intelligence unit officials are in the process of investigating these issues as the Sri lankan navy is violating the rules, and ignoring the Indian navy observations, and crossing over the Indian sea boarders and frequently visiting Danushkodi, is according to reports.
